Fields of War version 0.9.6b released

Hello everyone!

We’ve updated Fields of War to version 0.9.6b

As you’ll see this is a massive bug-fix update, and we’re expecting to release the final version of Fields of War soon.

  • Map icon size adapts to zoom level
  • Map scroll speed adapts to zoom level
  • Different map icons for AI bots
  • Feedback when low on health

Changed:

  • Infiltrator Sneak Attack from first after decloak to every time it hits a mech from behind
  • Infiltrator normal attack damage nerfed
  • Squad leader icon on player list changed to crown

Fixed:

  • AI keep shooting even after Line-of-Sight was lost
  • Demolition can jump into buildings
  • Engineer firing effect continues even after running out of ammo
  • Transfer doesn’t get canceled when the destination field was lost to the faction
  • AI ignoring Engineer turrets
  • Missing IK calculation for mechs that were out of view
  • Map scrolls outside map limits
  • Exiting the game while connected to a server causes the application to crash

  • Clicking the left menu panel while in game causes the cursor to disappear

  • Main menu not displaying while in Cinematic Mode
  • When player changes Faction the don’t leave their squad
  • Player able to create a squad before joining any Faction
  • Minimap showing after exiting the main menu while in Cinematic Mode
  • When Infiltrator hits with Chain Lightning it doesn’t play the sound effect

Known Issues:

  • No Log file on Linux systems

We’ve updated Fields of War to version 0.9.5b

This is mainly a maintenance release focused on fixing the squad system.

Fixed:

  • Fixed bug where user did not have a display name when entering the game for the first time
  • Fixed bug where artillery could move in deployed state if it transferred to another field while deployed
  • Fixed bug where squad invites won’t show
  • Artillery rate of fire miscalculation while deployed
  • AI Bots unable to see players inside field border, if the bots are outside of the field border
  • New player doesn’t receive old squads
  • Aiming lasers showing while transitioning
  • Nearby Mechs not showing markers if outside field border while camera is inside field border

Known Issues:

Beta Event 04 is over

Hello everyone!

We wanted to thank all of you who showed up to the event. We had great fun, and we hope you did too!

To all of you who couldn’t make it… well, we decided to leave the server open this time!

So you can still play the game even if you didn’t attend for some reason.

While the server will stay online until further notice, it still experiences the occasional crash, and we’ll take it down for regular updates and maintenance.

We have an automatic recovery system in place, so if the server has crashed, it’s brought back up within seconds.

Technology, yay! :D

Thanks again, and we’ll see you all on the battlefield!

Beta Event 04 Scheduled!

Hello everyone!

We’ve scheduled the next beta event to Sunday, May 12 2013.

In this event we want to try out our new, simplified account system.

You’ll need a key to enter the game this time, so we’ve opened registration in our forums, here: http://www.tecommunity.com/index.php?showtopic=538 

Just post in the topic and we’ll try to get back to you with a key as soon as possible.

As we’ve re-written the entire system from scratch, your old key won’t work. So even if you already have a beta key, please use the link above to get a new one.

We’ve scheduled the next Fields of War beta event!

Europe:
The event will start on 07/04/2013 at 19:00 UTC (12:00 PST) and will end at 21:00 UTC (14:00 PST)

North America:
The event will start on 07/04/2013 at 22:00 PST (05:00 UTC) and will end at 08/04/2013 00:00 PST (07:00 UTC)

You can view the event details in the calendar or on our website.

To participate in the event, download the game client from this site on April 7 and enter the game once the server is live.

We’ll see you all on the battlefield!

Beta Event 02 Conclusions

Hello everyone!

First off I’d like to thank everyone who showed up for the event, and especially those who stayed with us to the end. Your support is really heartwarming.

Second, I’d like to apologize to all of you who wanted to participate but now can’t.

We decided to close this event early because we’ve seen that the game just can’t work without AI bots and proper directions. We’ve seen players get lost, without objective.

So we’re taking a step back to develop at least a basic layer of AI bots, and to decide how to give the new player better directions and objectives.

We’ll keep you updated about the next event.

Beta 02 scheduled!

Hello everyone!

We’ve scheduled the next beta event, Beta 02, to next Sunday 10/03/2013 (that’s March 10, not October 3).

We’re making a few changes for this event, so read carefully:

First, we’re removing the current account-based login mechanism and instead letting anyone in. The reason for that is the account server we’ve created takes a lot of maintenance as well, and it just got in the way of the first event, so for now we’re putting it on hold and re-thinking the entire thing.

We know this may upset those who have already bought the game but worry not! We know you bought the game, and you’ll get it when it’s released. For now, however, the account system is just too buggy to maintain and we prefer to focus on the game development first.

Second, we’ll be running the event for a much longer period of time, 12 hours, from 15:00 UTC on March 10 to 03:00 UTC on March 11.

Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to see you all on March 10!
